What The HEC | National Tree Day

National Tree Day is less than six weeks away and we would love to celebrate with you!

Community plantings are at the heart of what National Tree Day is all about. Since 1996, five million volunteers from schools, councils, Landcare and community groups have planted over 27 million trees, shrubs and grasses across the country.

National Tree Day would not be the success it is without the support of Landcare groups around Australia. We invite you to register your community planting project on the National Tree Day website. By registering, you can recruit volunteers to join your event and join the National Tree Day community to be the first to hear about the next round of grants from Planet Ark’s Seedling Bank.

To date, over 130,000 seedlings have been funded and this year we’re funding another 50,000. Our goal is to grow our funding to support efforts like yours around Australia. By registering, you’ll be the first to know when we announce our next grant round.

How to join the National Tree Day community

We celebrate Schools Tree Day on July 26 and National Tree Day on July 28, but we support plantings all year round. Register for an event (or several!) any time that suits your local climatic conditions and gives your seedlings the best chance of survival.

By registering, your planting will be added towards the national tally. Let’s celebrate our collective action and the friendships formed from community plantings.
