What The HEC | | Introducing our new coordinator

HEC Hills Environment Centre

Naa marni HEC community,

My name is Jess Bamford, I am pleased to have taken on the role of co-ordinator at HEC. I wanted to reach out & introduce myself to the HEC community & tell you all a little bit about myself.

I’ve been working in environmental services for about 10 years in various ecology-based roles (project management, revegetation, horticulture and most recently surveying native fungi.) I have various Conservation & Horticulture qualifications and am currently studying Ecology at the University of Adelaide (finally getting around to it after many years in the industry.)

I have a strong passion for mycology (the study of fungi), I’m undertaking a research project looking at diversity of certain native fungi across the SMLR region. So if you have been to any fungi-related events in Adelaide, you’ve probably seen me around.

I have been gardening & growing my own food for many years and am one of the residents of Joe’s Connected Garden community garden on the Adelaide Plains – we grow all sorts of interesting herbs, vegetables and fruits which I will definitely bring to the Hills Harvest Exchange.

I’m very much looking forward to getting involved with the HEC community and meeting you all as you come in for events, workshops or to visit the centre itself.

Take care and see you all soon,
Jess
